This makes much more sense then having their Triple-A team play in Las Vegas.

Yes, this has been a foregone conclusion for a while. It's too bad for the Las Vegas team. Four years ago, they had the Dodgers as their parent team (and before that the Padres). Now, they're always getting the last MLB team left without a Triple-A affiliate (in this case, the Mets).

The AL Central race is hardly over. The White Sox are in good shape, but Detroit's schedule down the stretch is much easier.

Two of baseball's most dominant starters are going at it tonight. That's right, it's A.J. Griffin vs. Max Scherzer.

Makes more sense for Toronto. Not for the Mets. Not for the Bison fans in western NY.

Or in Toronto like they have this season.

How many teams have the Bisons affiliated with? Mets, Cleveland and the White Sox for sure, I think I am missing one too.

Pete Ladd pitched so well in the closer's role (little-known fact: he was runner up to Fred Lynn for ALCS MVP) that Fingers' absence really wasn't a factor. Ladd's only hiccup was Game 2 of the Series, and that was more because with the bases loaded on a 3-2 pitch that was down the middle at the waist, Bill Haller sat there with his thumb up his ass. In Game 7, the middle relief crew blew a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning. Now, it being Game 7, maybe Harvey Kuenn goes to Fingers earlier than the eighth or ninth, but probably not as early as the sixth.

The Dodgers' days in Vegas (even with a radio network affiliate and games telecast there) were doomed when Alburquerque rejoined the PCL. There's a historic relationship there. Lasorda cut his managerial teeth there.

Oh, yeah, I knew why they left for Albuquerque. Unfortunately for Vegas, all the MLB teams out west are pretty much established with their current affiliates. Purely speculative, but in two years, the Padres might be available, since they're selling off the Triple-A team they own to some people that are planning on moving the team from Tucson to El Paso.

Pujols is missing tonight's unimportant Rangers game to be in KC with his wife for the birth of their baby -- which happened Sunday.

I hope nothing is wrong with the child, but it's otherwise strange that Pujols would be out of the lineup.
