can't believe there's an actual world baseball classic website. would've thought they'd use leaguelineup or angelfire.

Just from following on my phone, it seems that Jim Johnson shut the door on the Sawx at precisely the same moment Russell Martin hit a walk-off homer for the Yanks against Oakland.

Probably best of both worlds. Moves Baltimore into the top wild card spot and keeps the O's within a game of New York. Thankful for a day game tomorrow and my football game being at night.

Sox are lucky the O's are in a penant race. Pretty sure Bobby Andino would have ended that pitcher's season himself after getting hit in the eighth. And the catcher's season, too, if he tried to intervene. Totally bullshit move right there by Boston. But the last remaining pink shirters in the crowd probably ate it up.

  7. I thought, originally, that Roger would pitch for the Astros simply to restart his Hall Of Fame clock and to put five long years between the McNamee fiasco and the voters deciding whether he'll reach the Hall, something Roger has been so verbal about getting into. But he obviously won't pitch for them now with a little over a week remaining on the schedule.

And about Waldman, I really don't mind her at all. She definitely isn't the best radio analyst, but I don't despise her like so many others do.

Meanwhile, the Pirates are proving once again that they are the laughingstock of baseball. They're making their minor league prospects undergo Navy SEAL training for a few days.

Great way to get your prospects hurt, Pittsburgh.

As an Astros sponsor, we got a table at an annual charity dinner the Astros held. They sat one player at every table, and the first year, they assigned Ausmus to our table.

The guy was so nice. All of our guests really liked him. (And the women thought he was really good looking.)

The next year, my contact at the Astros asked me who we wanted at our table. And, while we could have had Biggio or Bagwell, we stuck with Ausmus.

I was skimming the Yahoo version before football last night ... says a lot about the Pirates, for sure.
