Can't find exact years online, but I believe he wasn't playing baseball until 1991. I know he played football from 1992-94, and went into the Cubs minor league system after that.

A's pitcher Dallas Braden apparently wants the police chief of Stockton, Calif., to stay off his mound.

    http://www.mercurynews.com/athletics/ci_21648382/oakland-pitcher-dallas-braden-goes-ballistic-at-stockton

He goes cuh-ray-zee at a community meeting to address the growing crime and murder rate. Cap backwards, carrying a bat, he shouts the chief down and says he's leaving his hometown because he doesn't feel safe. I don't understand exactly what his point is, mostly because I'm not sure he understands it either. But he sounds like a guy who might be an avid newspaper article commenter.

In his defense, Stockton is the absolute worst place in all of America to live, with the possible exception of Bakersfield and Modesto and other towns up and down California's Central Valley.

As someone who's lived in the Valley for most of my career, I can't disagree with the last statement. Major industries are ag, prisons and meth.

Sports editor of Stockton paper weighs in ... in agreement:

This is supposed to be an MLB thread, not Cal League.

Rangers announcer Tom Grieve was talking about how Adams hadn't given up but one HR all season. Then the first pitch got dropped behind the left field bullpen. "Incredible. Just as I mentioned he only had one," Grieve said. Then he gave up another.

The Chamber of Commerce appreciates this assessment.

Hawk Harrelson is far and away baseball's most biased announcer, according to a Wall Street Journal study:

Granderson just hit a line drive back towards the pitcher.

Pitcher stabs at it. Ball hits glove, glove comes off of his hand, going straight up in the air. Ball and glove come down together and are caught by the pitcher for the third out of the inning.
