I'm not sure baseball fans in the DC/Baltimore area REALLY appreciate the fact that the two best managers in baseball do their work on opposite ends of the same freeway.

I have to admit one of the big reasons why I check on this thread is just to see the new Buck Showalter pics. Funny stuff.

More fun with tiebreakers. It's too late for it to happen this year, and it's pretty unlikely to ever happen, but still.

    2013 NL Central Division
Cubs 90-72 (I know, but it's my scenario. They hold the tiebreaker by best division record over the other two, but that only decides seeding in the mini-tourney to follow)
    Cardinals 90-72
    Brewers 90-72

Also, Braves 90-72 over in the East. All four teams are tied for both wild-card spots.

Cardinals and Brewers play each other for an initial tiebreaker game, Cardinals win (because Ryan Braun got caught doing steroids again before the game or something).

Cubs travel to St. Louis for the second divisional tiebreaker game, Cubs win and win the division.

Cardinals and Brewers are now both dropped back down into the wild-card, and we have a three-way tiebreaker for two spots with them and the Braves.

Cardinals and Brewers now play each other in the first game of the WC tiebreakers. Cardinals win again, secure a WC spot. Brewers now travel to Atlanta, and win, securing the second wild-card.

Now the Cardinals and Brewers play the actual Wild Card showdown, the third time they've met in these tiebreakers between the regular season and technical postseason. Cardinals win.

Cubs and Cardinals play separate division winners, win, and face each other in the NLCS, for the second time since the season ended.

Substitute any four teams you like, but this sort of potential is awesome.

I can't believe the fanbois aren't discussing the weirdness that was Michael Morse's grand slam. Here's video: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=25190649

Bob Carpenter is very annoying in his call, particularly when he determines that the umpires talking to the Nationals dugout is a horrible travesty. But I love the bat-less swing:

Torii Hunter keeps the Angels breathing for at least another few hours. Two-out, two-run double in top of ninth (after Trout struck out). Angels beat Rangers, 5-4.

And if the Angels sweep, Rangers march into Oakland with the division and wild card at stake.

2012 Rangers = 2011 Red Sox, 2011 Braves. Just watch.

Oh, and add the 2012 U.S. Ryder Cup team.

Just read about the Ryder Cup team. Epic collapse right there.

And Oakland charges to victory -- and the Angels come out and put four up in the first in the second game.
