He sucks. Needs two steals to reach 50.

Even if the Angels sneak in, the chances of that can't be more than 3 percent.

Neither the Angels, Rangers or Dodgers are going down easily tonight. And some serious channel-surfing with the newsies finally gone.

Dodgers score in ninth to beat Giants 3-2. Stayin' alive one more day.

Belfour strikes out the side in the ninth, and the A's are going to the playoffs with a 4-3 win over the Strangers.

A's win. Angels and Rays out. Rangers' team doc prescribing stool softener.

I just looked at the standings. I didn't realize that the two current AL wildcard teams both still have a shot at finishing with the best record in the AL.

A's cracking the champagne. That to me is crazy. I brought it up when the Braves did it, but they were locked into the spot and had the time. The A's have two more games to win to avoid the wild card entirely.

And wind up with home field for the AL playoffs.

First in war, first in peace, first in the National League East. Congrats to the Nationals.

And the Tigers could still play any of the four remaining AL teams.

You can also throw in the first two and half weeks of August into that mix also. The stretch that started with the infamous 11-10 loss in Texas and continued with the bullpen (and on a few occasions the starting pitchers) imploding on a daily basis.

I have to give the A's credit though. I kept expecting them to fold eventually and they never did.
