    Screwing around with calculators:

About the only way Cabrera loses the BA title to Trout is to go 1-4 or worse while Trout would have to go 4-5.

Although, if Cabrera goes 0-2 while Trout goes 4-5, final numbers would be Trout .32798 and Cabrera .32794.

The games are about 90 minutes (3 ABs??) out of synch (Angels-Mariners go first), so if Trout goes 1-3 in those first three ABs, my guess is Cabrera will head for the clubhouse. Texas-Oakland will be done earlier in the day so the HR race will be over unless Hamilton hits two.

The 2012 Rangers have such a 2007 Mavericks quality to them. I think they're just gassed.

Did you get Trout as 1 for 5 tonight? He was initially listed at 1 for 4. He is batting .323 now.

I just did the calculations and found that the only possibility was Cabrera 0-3 and Trout 5-5. Any hit by Cabrera or anything less than three outs clinches it, I think.

Good. Fuck them. Too bad they couldn't get a roided-up Manny Ramirez to hit .600 for them down the stretch.

This Bay Area native thoroughly enjoyed tonight. The Amazing A's win and the Giants eliminate the Dodgers from playoff consideration. Just give me a Bay Area World Series and I'll be happy no matter who wins.

Giants' broadcast had a great stat: Barry Zito's 4.15 ERA is exactly the same as it was in 2010, when he was famously left off the postseason roster.

Posey is a lock for comeback player of the year, but Zeets would be a strong contender otherwise. I don't know if you can "come back" from general suck, though.

And same to the fans who gloated over Melky getting suspended. Schadenfreude sumbitches. And now I'm done. Carry on with reasonable talk on this thread.
