Anyone who has tried to get around San Francisco -- with its one land-side entry point and overcrowded streets even on a normal day -- will appreciate this. On Sunday afternoon, the Giants host a playoff game, the 49ers host the Bills, and the America's Cup preliminary series concludes a weeklong event with the Super Sunday race. Plus it's Fleet Week.

Tremendous time to get there Saturday night and enjoy the day via a series of cafe and bar stopovers. Unfortunately, I'm too old and my kids are too young, so I suck.

Giants knocking out Dodgers at Chavez Ravine was sweet. Posey is the MVP. Whether being a C is more valuable or not, just think about taking foul balls and balls in the dirt off your body and catching every pitch while squatting; its the most brutal position in the game. then to hit .338 with 25/100? Amazing.

A's are a great story. Really like Ron Washington, but looks like the Rangers peaked last year and they will be this century's Bills. Great to see a sellout last night and my buddies are clamoring to get to the park today at 12:45 (unfortunately I cannot join them.) Go A's.

I noticed that Posey caught Zito, who pitched well. I guess that's the plan -- they are going to give Lincecum his personal caddy Sanchez, but Zito is just going to have to deal with it being Posey.

The more I look at that situation the more I think -- just my guess -- that the Giants don't believe Posey is as good on balls in the dirt and Lincecum needs to have full confidence in the catcher to block those.

Edit my post to add Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, a music festival in Golden Gate Park that draws 750K over three days. I suck even more now.

I'm ok with what LaRoche provided for the price.

You won't be if Rizzo hands him a multi-year deal and he goes back to being Adam LaRoche.

You mean the Adam LaRoche who has hit 20 HRs and driven in 78 or more runs in all but two years of his career, one of those being last year when he was hurt? Let's not act like he's some shitty player who doesn't deserve a spot. He's a career .268 hitter and he hit .271 this year. That said, he's not Prince Fielder, either. I just pointed out that LaRoche gave you as much, if not more, than Fielder did this year for only $8 million.

LaRoche is liable to get a 3-year, $30 million deal from someone. I wouldn't be disappointed if Rizzo gives it to him, although I think they'd rather have Tyler Moore in there.

LaRoche doesn't need to have career years every year with the Nationals.

Of course, Fielder plays in a real league. They don't give knuckleballers the Cy Young Award in the AL.

Am I insane or did Posey not play first base last night with Zito on the mound?

With the White Sox out, I'm jumping with both feet onto the A's bandwagon this fall. Wouldn't mind seeing the Orioles win, either. Different teams make the playoffs more exciting.

And how about the Rangers and Yankees both getting dumped into the one-game, loser-out wildcard battle? That would be awesome.
