Girardi had exactly 1,100 hits in his career. But don't let that stop you ...

So obviously he's qualified to comment on Jeter's mindset as he approached a milestone only 20 or so players in history have reached. :-[

He's the manager, that's the bottom line.

You can't pair excellent young positional talent with shitballers like Chen and Mendoza and just hope it all works out.

Ned will be the first manager fired.

The correct response there would be to admit your mistake. Heaven forbid you do something that might give us reason to take you seriously.

I know you think nobody should ever question your hero about anything, but his manager absolutely has that right.

This from the guy who thought we were all insane to question Jeter when he couldn't get the ball out of the infield most of the first half of 2011.

Now 0-10 at home; 3-13 overall. That does wonders for the walk up gate over the next several months, I'm sure...

The Brewers lost the division when they failed to sign Fielder and then spent too much on an overrated third baseman who is beyond his peak. Two of their starting infielders are hitting below the Mendoza line, and their shortstop is hitting .224. MIlwaukee's best pitcher has a 3.65 ERA right now. The Cardinals have four guys who are well below that. If the league hadn't lifted Braun's suspension, they might be winless.

For the remainder of the season, I would take Gallardo and Greinke over any of the Cards starters, except for Wainwright, and that's only working from the assumption that he ever gets back to being his old self.

Also, last I checked, it's still April. I think you're getting a bit ahead of yourself.

    This.

And Ramirez may be past his peak, but judging him on a slow start shows you really haven't paid attention. He has a very long history of terrible starts, but good numbers come May. If he stays healthy, the production will be there.

Ramirez has a better May OPS than April in one out of his last five seasons.
