Wasn't Dontrelle Willis on the DL for a few months with anxiety?

Excellent treatment by one of our own. It also turns out Huff's wife filed for divorce at the start of spring training. Talk about stress city.

The Nationals might be the only NL team hotter than the Braves, who are 12-7, but 12-3 since starting the year 0-4. They just went 5-2 on a 7-game trip to Arizona and LA, and start a 4-game home series with the Pirates tonight.

Too bad they don't play the Nationals until Memorial Day weekend. Maybe they'll both still be playing well by then.

    Yes.

The first guy I remember going on the DL for "anxiety/depression" was Pete Harnisch in the late 90s. He initially attributed his problems to trying to quit dipping snuff (seriously). As I recall, he came back after a few weeks with no further problems.

Meanwhile, on the opposite end of the Nats/Braves spectrum are the Halos...where Torri Hunter has some veiled criticism of supermanager Mike Scioscia:

The question now is: Where will Torri be traded to today?

And for a real blast from the Giants' past, Mike Ivie, "mental exhaustion."

Jackie Jensen, who was an All-American football player at Cal before becoming an All-Star outfielder with the Red Sox in the late 1950s, saw his career end in his prime because he was deathly afraid to fly. He retired at age 32 after the 1959 season (in which he hit 28 homers and had 112 RBIs), then came back for a year in 1961 and retired again (1961 was the first year there was an American League team on the West Coast, the L.A./California Angels).

Wayne Gretzky, Ron Guidry, and of course John Madden, all really hated to fly.

I was surprised Gretzky agreed to coach because of it. Was really shocked when Guidry became the Yankees pitching coach for two seasons. He's a guy that drives to Spring Training to serve as an instructor and to New York for Old Timer's Day, rather than get on a plane.

Two players with negative WAR ratings since 2010 who have managed to hold on to full-time jobs -- Chone Figgins and Adam Lind.
