I mentioned him a page or two back. I wonder if others think this is a talented player finally having a breakout year or just another hot streak for a guy who has always been erratic?

I think the key is to figure out if there is something that changed in his game that might allow him to take a big step forward. I think maybe settling in primarily as a DH has helped him. Maybe his struggles in the field carried over to the plate in the past?

I don't remember the last time ESPN aired a Blue Jays game.

None the less, I'm really looking forward in watching this game(Jays fan). Edwin is hitting the ball well right now. Hopefully it continues.

Maybe Encarnacion got into Bautista's stash.

    Dave Stieb pitched a gem.

If you read Gorzelanny's lips I swear he said "Too high! It's too high!"

I think Encarnacion is much more comfortable as a DH only, and that's something we started to see near the end of last season. He doesn't hurt anybody as a 1B, but in his first start at third this season he booted the first ball hit his way.

Six Ks and no hits allowed thru 3 for Darvish.

EDIT: Encarnacion just went deep with two outs in the fourth. First hit allowed tonight and first HR allowed this year by Darvish.

Mentioned this a few pages back, but the MLB video police edited it out of the highlights and took down anything where you could kinda sorta see it ... just a great (if incredibly juvenile and likely alcohol-fueled) prank.

According to baseball-reference is a career .304/.364/.540 hitter in 339 career AB as a DH. In 2,348 career AB at 3B he has hit .255/.333/.448.

It's a small sample, but there does seem to be proof that not having to play the field is a positive for him.

Anything that discourages that national scourge known as The Wave should be encouraged.

Thank you for doing the research I had been too lazy to do. The sample may be small, but the evidence continues to pile up.
