I think that was right around when they were having her "dating" Test and making her look like a sweet innocent young woman. I always thought when they turned her into Trips' evil woman that was one of the best physical transitions in the business, just by how they had her dress, how they changed her makeup and how they styled her hair.

As for Owen, I remember watching the evening news, and they mentioned his death, which shocked the hell out of me. Then it was all over the news the next day, and I remember how a lot of people had no idea what was going to happen on the Raw because deaths were very rare at that point (Pillman's was only a year and a half earlier), especially when it was a main member of the crew.

I always thought they did a good job with the show, considering that it was live and only a day after he died. And the Rock's entrance pop that night might have been the loudest I've ever heard.

That event also help launch Jonathan Coachman (who covered the story for a local KC station) into the WWF/WWE.

Whenever I see Coachman on ESPN, I think of all the wacky WWE stuff he did. I'll say this for him, though. He's done a pretty good job of making himself into a staple of ESPN's lineup with all the stuff he does on SportsCenter, ESPN Radio, etc.

I enjoy him, Van Pelt, Freddie Coleman, and a few others on the radio ... they show you can have a personality, get your point across, and not act like a buffoon or spout stupidity (I'm looking you Bayless, John Kincaid, and Mike Hill).

    You left out Berman ...

True, but Berman isn't a regular on ESPN's programming anymore. Just makes his appearances for NFL Sundays, MLB playoffs, and an occasional ego stroke on SportsCenter. Gotta show us that he caught passes in the Bucs' training camp 30-some years ago at least a few times a year.

Plus, he doesn't really spout idiotic statements ... he just kisses ass in between catchphrases.

I'm talking about the clowns who take up the radio airwaves in the evening and on Sunday mornings.

Perhaps that's why they're on Sunday morning, because not a lot of people listen then.

  8. I watched a little bit of the latest episode of Impact and I was curious to see what others thought . . . if they are watching. :) With RAW being as bad as it has been lately, I have been trying to pay a little more attention to Impact and i kind of like what they are doing. They have always had the better divas division, but aside from that, Hogan is a thousand times better on the mike than he was when "brother" was used every other word. I like the open fight night concept. I liked the behind the scene, closed door interviews like Hogan had with a few of the talents the other night. I like them having a solid guy like Roode as champ. I think it's slowly getting better, but it may never matter because it is TNA.

I wouldn't necessarily say Raw has been bad, at least compared with late 90s WCW. I'd say that Raw has just been uncompelling and predictable.

Whereas before, they would try to do things to get people to watch and to keep them, now it seems like they're just going through the motions.

It does seem very paint-by-the-numbers right now. Need to shake things up.

  11. And that's what I like about Tna right now. They are doing newer things right now, shaking the way wrestling shows are made. And this weeks main event was really a fantastic technical match. Even the Austin Aries match against a Newby was good. You are finding that abyss can really play another character pretty well. I guess I just want someone to push wwe to be the best it can be and I like what I see out of tna right now. Especially this week.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned this yet: Chris Jericho is suspended indefinitely because on a match in Brazil with C.M. Punk, he kicked around a Brazilian flag that Punk was waving. Not realizing heel Jericho was just trying to get heat with the crowd, cops surrounded the ring and threatened to arrest him, as desecrating the flag is a crime in Brazil.

I guess the WWE felt they had to act since Linda is running for office again, but I have a feeling this will get smoothed over. (Jericho did apologize to the crowd immediately after it happened).
