Miz-Orton lasted a few minutes, but still played on the "hit 'em while they're down" notion.
I wouldn't mind Cena winning if he uses it to challenge Punk for the main event at Summerslam. Especially if he loses. In a weird way, as stale as his character has become, Cena can totally freshen up the MITB concept by doing that. He's one of the few guys who can cash in, lose, and not take a career-killing hit.

I actually think this is a good reason for having an all-champions MitB. If a face wins (Cena), then he can use it for a legit / PPV challenge and lose.

My other takeaway from Monday night - I wonder if they're turning Jericho back to a face, or at least a tweener. With Daniel Bryan and Big Show, the #1 and #2 heel spots are taken on Raw, and the top two faces (Cena and Punk) look like they're headed for a feud.

I've read that they have some pretty big plans in mind for Ziggler this summer. Not sure what, but it'd be nice to see him finally get a legit run with the strap while Cena and Punk take a break for a bit.

And Batman, I don't count when Miz cashed in because -- IIRC -- that was at the end of a match near the end of Raw one night.

But if you're going that route, you can also count when Bryan cashed in against Big Show. They changed the rule to read the one being cashed in on has to be at least aware of what's going on. I remember Show getting up to one knee, the bell ringing and Bryan kicking him in the back of the head for the pin.

I'd be happy if they let Ziggler have a run at things. I get tired of seeing the same people on top all the time and am ready for different people in the main events. I know he's been there for a while, but Punk is at least different enough (to me) from Orton, Cena and Big Show for the umpteenth time that it feels fresher.

I'm just glad they've given the big belt some stability with Punk's -- and Sheamus, to a lesser extent -- latest run. It's been almost a year since he won it from Cena and "left" the WWE. Hard to believe it's been that long already.

Except he lost it a month later to Del Rio, who took it for a joyride around Mexico and installed a "La Cucaracha" horn to go with the spinner device, then won it back in November.

That's right. For some reason I was thinking Punk was gone longer than a month. The strap went from Mysterio, to Cena, to Del Rio, to Cena again, back to Del Rio and then back to Punk in a span of four months.

FWIW, I thought they did a good job last night. Good wrestling, story lines are furthering and the Daniel Bryan/Jericho bit was friggin hilarious.

    YES/AGAIN/YES/YES/EVEEEEEEEEEEEEEER AGAIN!

I keep noticing the commentators mention how long Punk's title reign has lasted. Interesting to see if they're building him to lose it soon or to hold it a bit longer.

I, for one, like extended title reigns. Makes the champion look legit and the chase that much more compelling. I know these are "no shit" notions, but with today's attention-devoid audience ...

Fixed. Punk beat Cena, then lost immediately to Del Rio.

Title history on the website has it as I posted it ...

Punk beat Cena on July 17 last year. On the 25th, Mysterio won it (in a tournament, I think), then dropped it that night to Cena. Del Rio beat Cena in August, Cena won the rematch a month later, then Del Rio won it in a triple threat match against Cena and Punk. Punk beat Del Rio in November and has held it since.
