He had a stroke around 9-10 years ago.

Couple Lawler's heart attack with Steamboat getting a brain aneurysm right after getting "beaten up" in the ring, and it's doubtful they'll have any legends taking any bumps anytime soon.

Short term, they could throw Striker out there. He's already there and can keep the seat warm if The E wants to look outside to someone not currently under contract.

But I like the idea of giving Road Dogg a shot, whether they put him on Raw or move Josh Matthews to Raw and put the D-O-Double G (couldn't resist) on SmackDown.

If you put Heyman out there, it diminishes his character immediately and greatly. Right now he's connected to two wrestlers -- WWE champion CM Punk and special attraction Brock Lesnar. It's a big deal when he's out there, because he's affiliated with the two most important angles on the show and nothing else. You put him in Lawler's chair, and he's talking about Zach Ryder vs. Heath Slater, and that brings his wow factor down immeasurably.

Striker probably won't get a shot at the big chair. Too mistake-prone and long-winded. He fills a role, but he's not a lead color guy.

Cole and Matthews have done shows before when Lawler was taken out or left in disgust. They're too similar.

Edge would be great if he were so inclined, but he doesn't seem like he'd be interested in it. Christian? They're not using him much and he may be thinking about transitioning out of a full-time in-ring career soon. Shawn Michaels would do it, but everyone would expect him to get involved in an angle the moment he picked up the headset. They're hung up about Regal, which is a shame, though perhaps he's too subtle for the role anyway. Joey Styles is a PBP guy. Too bad AW isn't around, so they could pass him over.

As long as the first time they introduce him, he gets to say his "Oh, you didn't know...." stuff, I'd be perfectly fine with that.

You do make a great point about not using Heyman. I'd love to see it though, just because he's so damn good on commentary. I guess I was being selfish :D

And from what I've heard of Regal on old FCW shows, he was great.

Don't think they'd bring JR back for a bit either.

Great news on Lawler ... tests show no signs of brain damage and, while he still isn't talking, he's able to communicate in detail through writing.

Great to hear. Wish he could talk, but still great progress.

Probably not talking because he has tubes all up in his business.

And to think, he was technically dead at one point Monday evening.

I suspect we've seen the last of him as a regular TV presence, at least on the road. Maybe they'll find something sedentary for him to do that doesn't require him to leave Memphis except occasionally. If WWE Network ever takes flight (it won't), he could host an old-school show. Too bad they don't have a developmental deal in Memphis anymore.

I agree that they'll likely find something for him to do. He's too talented in a lot of ways (and done too much for the company) for them not to have some kind of role for him.
