"We're out of time! Tune in next week!" I don't think that'd go over nearly as well these days.

Instead of Braves baseball, we get reruns of Burn Notice or Covert Affairs. Though, I must say those are far better follow ups than Matt Pinfield's farmclub.com. Yikes.

It's a shame, because he has a strong announcing voice and was actually quite good in the Mid-Atlantic/NWA/early WCW days. What he turned into can be laid at the feet of Bischoff, who more or less forced him into THIS IS THE GREATEST NITRO IN HISTORY territory. Now that's too ingrained into fans' heads to ever take him seriously, even though he'd be at least Cole's equal as a PBP guy, and probably still better.

I agree he was much better before Bischoff got a hold of him. He's not the only person that can be said of, either.

Talked with Schiavone for about 15 minutes after a game in Louisville earlier this season. He talked about baseball, about storytelling, about his grandkids, about getting to sit high in a radio booth in a polo shirt and shorts and never have to wear a suit. He talked about how during his last months in WCW, he rarely so much as opened his mouth except when he was on the air because he had just about shredded his vocal chords. Schiavone doesn't scream anymore. His delivery is steady. He's a baseball guy.

He sounds so happy to be out of the industry. Even if the pay is right, I can't imagine he would get back behind the table.

Just stumbled on this photo of Schiavone with Jim Ross in Tokyo. If the date in the lower right corner is correct, Ross is 39 and Schiavone is 34.

That's the impression I've gotten from listening to him on the radio and seeing him doing Gwinnett Braves games.

Night of Champions is tonight. CM Punk's WWE Championship reign has surpassed 300 days. Cena is challenging for that title in his hometown of Boston, where he'll still be booed out of the building. On a tangent, Cena will sport a new T-shirt and hat tonight. From now until October, he will wear pink "Rise Above Cancer" gear.

In other news, Jerry Lawler confirmed on his Twitter account that JBL is back doing commentary, but no one seems to know how long he's sticking around.

Here's a look at the card for tonight (unsure of the order) ...

    WWE Championship
CM Punk (c) vs. John Cena

    World Heavyweight Championship
Sheamus (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio ... stipulation that the Brogue Kick is banned

    Divas Championship
    Layla (c) vs. Kaitlyn

    United States Championship
Antonio Caesaro (c) vs. the winner of a pre-show battle royal

    Intercontinental Championship
The Miz (c) vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Sin Cara ... Fatal Fourway

    Tag Team Championship
Kofi Kingston and R-Truth (c) vs. Daniel Bryan and Kane

    Non-title match
    Randy Orton vs. Dolph Ziggler

So ... anybody got a link? How the hell do you guys find those things, anyway?

Should be a good card. Hopefully not too many swerves, but this is the WWE we're talking about.

    That should work.

So, just thinking we're down to six championships from nine just a few years ago. The Cruiserweight title was retired, the tag titles were unified, as were the Women's and Diva's titles.
