    WWE releases a statement:

Also, they're saying the guy CM Punk hit wasn't the guy that hit him in the head.

It was if you see the video from the stands. The guy goes to put his arms down to put his glasses back on his face and he clips Punk in the back of the head. It's clear as day to me and that's when Punk fired back.

Oh, there were times the Dudleys had to hotfoot on out of the arena after challenging the entire crowd to a fight and then starting one with the front row people. I think they caused a riot in Brooklyn or something doing that and had to escape quickly.

Punk definitely hit the wrong guy:

OK, so he got hit twice. I definitely see the chickenshit coming in behind the guy Punk hit that also slapped him in the back of the head.

Both of them hit him in the head and Punk reacted to the guy nearest to him.

Couldn't see the other guy until that video.

    Thanks, ucacm

Damn you missed out on that? That was one of the most iconic episodes in ECW history.

No, the guy that CM Punk hit did not slap him. Watch it again.

Hmmm, can't really definitely tell if the guy he hit touched him or not, but the other guy was definitely the one he should've hit.

Haven't seen the video, but here's my question: where the heck was the security at? I understand not wanting to have them bunched in a certain section to give away where Punk might be heading out through the crowd, but they've got to be smarter than that.

The E's statement said security wasn't in the right spot.

Gee, ya think?!? They'll be lucky if Punk doesn't get charged or if they don't get sued.

I doubt Punk will get charged. He can always claim he felt he was in danger (or something) and he was assaulted first (although he hit the wrong guy).

However, lawsuit for negligence on the WWE's security or the building's security? Yeah. That's going down.

Sacramento CBS reporter tweets that cops aren't investigating. Guess The E has settled up with free passes, T-shirts, and a "Best in the World" Blu-ray.
