Didn't see the show, because I had some family obligations. Doesn't seem like I missed much anyways.

One interesting thought came to mind when they were announcing WM for NJ next year. They had the Rock there, and he was discussing Cena. Maybe they already have a rematch booked?

Any word on the extent of Kain's injuries? He looked really messed up.

I honestly hope they do something with Santino. However, the WWE seems to hate anything that gets a crowd response that they didn't specifically come up with. Have him actually go 10 to 20 minutes in a match, establish that he can wrestle, make him a solid contributor to capitalize on the immense crowd reaction he gets... Nah, fuck it, just have him stay in a comedy role.

If they don't have Cody vs. Goldust at Wrestlemania, then I wouldn't mind seeing Santino vs. Rhodes

Santino is a great entertainer. Love watching him.

He and Zack Ryder will have a wheelchair race on Raw. Loser has to wear a "John Cena stole my push" T-shirt.

  7. He really is. I nearly pissed my pants laughing when he did the sign of the cross on smackdown before going apeshit on Harvard. He would have had a nicely defined role back in the good days of WCW when guys like Disco inferno and a chubby-chasing Mike Awesome had a place. hey weren't threats to a title, but had a place on the show. But now, it seems you either are a title contender or nothing. You may get a little airtime, but if you are't factoring into a title run, you will fade away quickly.

  8. I'm not going to lie, I really enjoy Santino. He's perhaps the most consistently entertaining guy on the show relative to the minutes he gets to appear.

My question is how is he as a wrestler? Do we know if he has the chops to be involved in the title picture or is that unknown because he's never had much of a chance?

I think he's best in a comic role because of his size, and it would be hard to take him seriously as an ass-kicker at this point. While someone like Bryan already came in with a rep as an ass-kicker despite his size, Santino just looks rather robotic in the ring.

He really only has a couple of spots (the leg-split, and ... um .. ), that cry out as "Serious wrestler". He was tremendous as an angry Italian heel with Maria, but the fans started cheering him, so then they turned him into a goof.

They probably could keep him in "Goofy role, IC/US/Tag title contender" for a long time. I actually wasn't too pleased that they were turning him into a bit of a coward (i.e. with Nash and someone else that I can't recall). He's entertaining as hell, and probably should be kept in that role.

Santino is a throwback to the midcarders of the Attitude era, though probably a bit more compromised because they played him up so much as a nonfactor in the ring for so long it's like he has more in common with a goofy Mikey Whipwreck than, say, a Godfather or Val Venis. If he could up his workrate, add a few moves and a consistent set-up to the Cobra, he could certainly be an IC/US title guy and occasional figure higher up the card, in the right circumstances. If the Funkasaurus comes back, he's in that same zone.

I freaking love Santino and his goofiness. The whole Rocky thing last night with him was hilarious.

Somewhere between the Santino thing and the Jeremy Lin phenomenon, I would love it if the WWE realized a great way to build a new star would be to take an unlikely person and have them get on a hot streak and beat a bunch of people, a la Goldberg all those years ago. ZRyder would have actually been the perfect person to start that with when they brought them in off the internet shelf. but do it with someone, please
