Iron Maiden also had a seven-year head start on Metallica. They rode the early 1980s metal wave with Judas Priest and Ozzy. Love their early stuff and think they're a great band, but they're also the only show I've ever left disappointed. 80 minutes with 20 years of catalog just doesn't cut it. Especially in Long Beach Arena.

Metallica was headlining NBA arena in 1988-89 on the Justice tour. Their current international appeal is superior to Iron Maiden's, and has probably been since the Black Album.

Behind Countdown to Extinction (1992), Megadeth did a mix of arenas and sheds.

Slayer never quite broke through to headline major arenas.

    Sirs, Madames,

Until Zevon, Mott and Little Feat are in, I'm not that interested. Wouldn't mind seeing Eno in as well (sans Roxy).

    YHS, etc

I've asked this question before, but I'll ask again:
Is it possible to like a band/perfomer and still admit they/he/she don't/doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame?

The little building in Cleveland has improved its quality exponentially the last few years ...

It should be possible. I was thinking of FotF's post, butthe opposite should be true.

I don't think any of this year's nominees should be in, but I'll admit that Rush is the closest to actually deserving it.

    Just found a good example:
I can't stand Elton John, but I wouldn't argue he doesn't belong in the HoF.

I love the Dead Kennedys and the Cowboy Junkies, but neither should be in the HoF.

I'm happy for Rush fans, but I feel like one of the great SJ traditions died a little today. What argument will rise to take its place?
