Thanks for the moments of clarity. Jon Miller also fled the O's broadcast booths under Angelos, who wanted him to be a bit more of a homer. We in Northern and Central California are thankful.

Heyman reports that Cubs have interviewed AJ Hinch & Manny Acta, and might interview Rays coach Dave Martinez & Padres coach Rich Renteria:

    So...........................

The Tigers may be open to moving Max Scherzer before his price tag skyrockets.

Manny Machado opts for knee surgery after all. Rehab time of 4-6 months, which is cutting it close for opening day:

An MLB GM told ESPN New York that Brian McCann could get 6 years, $100 million:

    http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/yankees/post/_/id/66102/gm-mccann-could-get-100m

He obviously won't get it from the Braves, and I think it's crazy for ANYONE to give him that much. McCann turns 30 in February, and just about every elite offensive catcher of the last 50 years has been all but washed up by 33 (Carlton Fisk & Ivan Rodriguez being the most-notable exceptions).

People are going to be stunned by this offseason.

Teams have more money than ever before and it's one of the weakest FA classes I've ever seen. The prices are going to be through the roof.

How much will Kershaw see in arbitration this year? Geez. I imagine whatever he asks for, he'll get.

Also, Rockies - for some reason - gave Walt Weiss a three-year extension for winning 74 games in his first season as manager.

Boston. He can team up with his buddy David Ross, catch a smidge fewer games, DH a few. Willing to bet that's where he ends up.

Yeah, I think Boston, the Yankees or Texas. Maybe the Angels.

Brad Ausmus also on the Nationals' managerial short list, per Ken Rosenthal on Twitter:

The front office war between Nolan Ryan and Jon Daniels is over in Texas.

Nolan is retiring effective at the end of the month. That probably means Ron Washington is on a short leash.

    http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24097344/nolan-ryan-will-retire-from-rangers-ceo-job-oct-31

Look for Nolan to mysteriously un-retire and join his son in Houston shortly.
