White Sox appear likely to land Abreu. Wow.

If he's as good as he's supposed to be, $70 million is a steal assuming it's a six-year deal.

So long, Konerko. Now if they could just get somebody to take Adam Dunn off their hands ...

The White Sox landed Abreu for 6 years and $68 million.

He could be one of the best players in baseball next year. Jonah Keri wrote a fabulous piece on him a couple of months ago.

I do not understand this move at all on the part of the White Sox.

I think it could work out like Cespedes did. A medium risk, sure, but if he produces like he's capable, six years and $68 million could be a bargain. He absolutely tore Cuban pitching apart.

The whole concept of rebuilding is silly. People have taken it to this extreme where they wonder why teams would want a player they think is good at baseball.

Depends if Alex Avila's knee injury is serious, in which case the Tigers will probably trade for him again.

The A's had a decent team before Cespedes, though. The White Sox are just a disaster.

Obviously it won't help the White Sox if he sucks - but it wouldn't help a good team if he sucked, either, obviously. But if he's good? Then he either helps them return to competence, or he's an asset they can move to get players who will help them when they're ready to be good again.

    $300 million for Clayton Kershaw?

That sounds absurd for any pitcher.
