If he keeps it up. Remains to be seen.

Small but overwhelmingly impressive sample size. You, of course, will recall his near no-hitter of your favorite team. A lot to like about this kid.

I do. And I agree. A lot to like about him. Let's see him do it for more than a month, though.

Agree, though not a normal month. A high-pressure month.

Indeed. The kid has a bright future. Seems to have great control of his nerves in such big spots. Unreal. Decent story in the Post yesterday about the Nats' decision to take Giolito instead of Wacha and how they'd probably still do it. Glad I don't have to make those calls.

I just assumed you were tongue-in-cheek mentioning him ahead of Kershaw and Verlander.

Yeah, Giolito's still just 19. The Nats can't kick themselves over that one just yet.

Now, the Braves taking relief pitcher Josh Fields over Giancarlo Stanton in the 2nd round of the 2007 draft (when they took Jason Heyward in Round 1 & Freddie Freeman a few picks later in Round 2) on the other hand ...

Madison Bumgarner belongs in that mix, too.

I was, kinda sorta. Clearly you wouldn't take him over those two. Yet. But he's shoving it up asses in big-time situations. What is he now, 4-0 in the playoffs?

Yup. Ridiculous. He's been a moneymaker the last few weeks, too. For some reason, he's been the underdog way more than he should have been.

Fuck Wacha, though. Gimme your thoughts on Williams to the Nats with (hopefully) Knorr staying on.

If Simmons isn't a unanimous pick at shortstop, I give up.
