Like I said, some people can't admit that the Pirates are crying poor again. That's fine. We are all entitled to our opinion. You are entitled to be wrong.

Phillies continue to throw money at old guys, re-signing 35-year-old Carlos Ruiz to a 3-year, $26-million deal:

Maybe the Phillies should cry poor and start avoiding these guys.

Giants. Hudson. Two years. 23 million. Close.

    Wow. Old AND hurt.

Maybe I still have a shot.

As a Braves fan, this one stings a little bit from an emotional standpoint. But I'm glad my team was not the one that overpaid for Hudson.

For a third-fouth starter behind Cain and Bumgarner, along with Lincecum.

Giants' top prospect on the farm, Crick, needs a year, maybe two, of seasoning in Fresno before he's MLB-ready, seems to be the conventional wisdom.

I'm psyched; Hudson got hurt in a freak accident at 1st; not sure a 25 yr old doesn't get hurt as well. Its not like he's on his 4th Tommy John.

Huddy, a damn tough competitor who's nails coming to SF; awesome.

This Braves fan will take a wait-and-see-who-replaces-him approach before I get upset. But I'm thinking come next August, I'll be wishing the Braves HAD overpaid for him. #NotMyMoney

The Braves already have six legit rotation options (five healthy): Medlen, Teheran, Minor, Wood, Hale, Beachy, so spending 8 figures on a starter would have been a misallocation of resources.

The second part of your statement is true.

The first part would make sense if they were a small market with a history of being even cheaper than necessary and they had just broken one of the worst streaks of disgraceful performances by a professional franchise in recent memory.
