Except that McCann has a full no-trade clause:

No doubt that demand was in response to Fielder getting dealt after just two years.

Also, the Angels gave Joe Smith $15 million over three years ...

Because multi-year deals for middle relievers are always sound investments ... especially for bad teams.

They'll just have the league ban him for life if they don't like his contract.

The Angels don't understand free agency.
What a joke this franchise has become.

Hey, at least the Angels are throwing money at a need now. Sadly, it's progress.

yanks will be thrilled to get three reasonably healthy/productive years from him. anything beyond that is gravy and they've bought three years to develop someone better than the bozos they ran out there to catch last season.

Jhonny Peralta apparently headed to the Cardinals to play shortstop:

They're probably hoping by then that Austin Romine and/or Gary Sanchez is ready to take over for him. Then he can platoon with 42-year-old A-Rod at DH.

Seems like a lot of money for a guy who just got busted for PED use and isn't very good defensively.

Dan Haren to the Dodgers for one year, $10 million, plus a 2015 option that vests at 180 innings.
