The problem is that I think a lot of people, including many of you, have a very wrong impression about what AJ is like based on some of this crap. Each one of you would enjoy sitting down for drinks or dinner with the guy.

Yeah, well. I don't know what to tell you. Get used to it. Many of us don't have the opportunity to sit down with these athletes for two minutes to find out what great people they are.

We're all happy for you, though, that you can do that with good ol' A.J.

Busy day ... Reds, D'backs, Rays pull off a 3-team swap that sends Heath Bell, Ryan Hanigan & cash to Tampa; minor league pitcher David Holmberg to Cincinnati; minor-league pitcher Justin Choate & a PTBNL to Arizona.

I don't think there's any way this happens, but apparently this is a thing this afternoon.

Most indications I've heard from folks in the Detroit area is they're incredulous Fister was moved so Smyly could have his spot, and what they received in return. There's a few who are trusting in what Dombrowski is doing, as if this is part of a plan toward further moves.

Every indication Cano has given thus far is that he'll go to the highest bidder, so maybe the Mariners do have a chance.

He signed up with Jay-Z to be a megastar making megabucks.
No offense to the Mariners - but he would not have that cachet in Seattle.
