Red Sox covering their ass for mis-diagnosing Ellsbury's four or five broken ribs from his collision with Beltre as "bruised."

 

The Ellsbury signing may be worth it no matter how he performs in the final three years just to see and hear all the Red Sox fans acting as if they didn't want him anyway.

My favorite was from the local pop station this morning when one of the DJs said, "He's always kind of been the mercenary type anyway. Not a true Red Sock [sic], like Pedroia."

 

That has been the Boston attitude to every free agent who has ever left the team.

 

Has the Boston sports media started smearing Ellsbury yet?

 

No, but I think they'll just relive all the smears from when he was hurt. Media here a big proponent of the "rub some dirt on it" school of sports medicine.
