That picture is positively spooky. Welcome to what the northern states get all winter, Dallas!

If we narrow it to 30+ guys switching teams for contracts that extend to their almost being 38, 39 or over 40, I don't think it's too long of a list.

Manny, though did work out. The two years and 40 plus million to the Dodgers? Not so much.

Beltre looks like he will work out for the Rangers.

Interesting Tampa Bay Times piece on the all-but-certain David Price trade:

Orel Hershiser joins Dodgers broadcast team, so Curt Schilling will take his place on Sunday Night Baseball:

Roy Halladay will sign a one-day contract with the Blue Jays and immediately retire, per Ken Rosenthal on Twitter:

That's very surprising. I guess the shoulder injury was worse that we thought.

    HOFer, right?

A couple years ago, in spring training, he was getting batted around and his velocity was way down. Some of us said on here it raised some huge red flags, while others were like, "It's Roy Halladay! He'll be fine!'

    Wish I'd been wrong.

Maybe not first ballot, but I'd think so.

Two Cy Youngs and two runner-ups, and 200 wins is going to become the new standard for HOF pitchers (Halladay has 203).

Plus, he was the best pitcher in baseball over about 10-year stretch (2002-2011).

I never realized Halladay had so much service time. First I'd heard of him was his near-miss on the last day of the 1998 season, his second career MLB start. He also spent half of 2001 in the minors.

    Mark Prior retires.

I always thought he'd make it back to the big leagues eventually, even for a cup of coffee.

Shame; he was electric when he came up. Prior and Wood were two awesome shows at Wrigley. (No I don't blame Dusty or Bartman; I blame "slick-fielding" Gonzalez for booting a routine grounder.

Three-team deal worked out between the Diamondbacks, Angels and White Sox:

Mark Trumbo & 2 PTBNL to Arizona

Adam Eaton (the outfielder, not the washed-up pitcher) to Chicago

Hector Santiago & Tyler Skaggs to Anaheim
