You brought up this portion of the debate. You just don't like having the massive flaws in your argument pointed out.

Take it up with LTL and JC, or the next hypocrite who decides to start the same crap and then blame me for standing by my point of view.

A friend was a prosecutor and he said TOG defense was a big one suspects tried to use. Always the other guy.
No, it is not always the other guy. There's a common denominator in all this. As someone noted above, you can't stand not having the last word.
So we'll take it up with you, too.
As Elliott noted, this is a good thread. Let's try to keep it that way.

I'll try to play nicer. Apologies for my part in the bad turn.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the topic if we can all play nice. Oakland's offseason approach is interesting. I just don't think it is quite the sign of financial change some are making it out to be.

Anybody know what Pomeranz is due to make in 2014? I can't find it.

Brett Anderson is due $8 million in 2014 with a $12 million team option for 2015. On the surface, it looks like Oakland spending more like a larger market by sending money in the deal, but they still unloaded $6 million in guaranteed salary by trading away Anderson.

I caught a little of Billy Beane talking about the trade on MLB Network last night. He brought up turning back the clock, a reference to having Pomeranz under control longer. In spite of the oddity of Oakland including money in a trade, I believe Beane was out to save money with the deal. The same could be argued about trading for Johnson rather than trying to re-sign Balfour.

Pomeranz is not arbitration-eligible until after the 2015 season, so he'll make the minimum ($480,000) or close to it for the next two years.

Thank you. So even with the money included in the deal, Oakland cut approximately $5.5 million from its payroll for 2014 with the Anderson trade.

By the way, Ryan Braun is still a dirty PED cheater.

David Price's agent says he would not sign an extension if traded to Seattle:

If every good player in MLB uses them, as you have suggested, why is that relevant?

Someone made a great point about playing in Seattle, there are no off days. Any day you don't play is almost certainly a travel day. The shortest trip is Oakland, a 2 hour flight.

corey hart is headed for #mariners, according to sources. 1 year deal. will likely bat behind cano.

Now comes a report that Seattle also is trading for Miami's Logan Morrison. Apparently the Mariners are cornering the 1B market.
