Makes sense. They determined they could better optimize revenues with somewhat lower prices by filling more of their 48,000 capacity over 80 games. Concessions and parking come into play.

They're also continuing to do dynamic pricing ... there's a target price and an actual price, the latter of which fluctuates as demand reveals itself. The upper reserved seats have increased in "face" price these last few years, but as game time approaches the actual price tends to be much lower. When I take my crew, usually we're upper-deck denizens and, for the five of us, our ticket outlay's rarely more than $25 (total).

The Rangers let you take your own food and (non-alcoholic) drinks in, so even with parking and a couple beers for the wife and me, we can do a major league game for five for $65 to $75. Of course we're not talking weekends (too crowded for me, anyway), but that's no biggie ... one of the perks of living nine miles from the Ballpark is that you can get there and back easily and quickly.

Derek Holland injured his knee in a fall at home and might miss half the season:

Didn't mention wins or losses in this graf, just IP and K and BB rates.

No surprise. The HBT guys are pretty saber-centric.

The Cubs have introduced their first official team mascot, "Clark, the friendly Cub."

Well, this seems a little condescending:

Inside some Chicago PR agency, a 25-yr-old marking exec named Jenni (with heart above the I) decided Cubs need mascot

They're the CUBS, for God's sake. They gave up any illusion of being fierce from the beginning.

That said, all that's missing from that cartoon is a slingshot in its back pocket.

Twenty years ago, Tom Trebelhorn met a woman at a Furries convention.

Clark is the result of that union.
