The NHL has a really unhealthy fascination with Las Vegas.

What did everyone think of Tom Wilson's hit on Schenn in the Caps-Flyers game last night? Looked terrible. Looked like charging to me. But Oates and Brooks Laich both have defended Wilson today saying it shouldn't have even been a penalty.

(cough)horseshit(cough). I texted my son as soon as I saw it: five minimum. I really like Wilson but he got what he deserved and so did the team. Not sure I understand it there, retaliation for the last time? Why give the Flyers a chance like that? They blow. Just beat them again.

McPhee also said it was a good hit.

Teammates and management defending their own.

I think Moddy has it right.

In case anyone didn't see it. Wilson is flying in from the bench

No problem with the five-minute major penalty on Wilson. I suspect given the way this year has gone, he'll be sitting for at least a couple of games.

McPhee is, as usual, full of shit.

It was a reckless play by a snot-nosed 19 year old who didn't let up on this hit. Even if Schenn didn't turn at the last minute, it's a "I'm going to show the team how fucking tough I am". Wilson accelerated but could see that Schenn was at least three or four feet off the boards. That's always been a penalty.

Wilson deserves at least five games but probably won't since Schenn didn't get a concussion. That's how the NHL works

I hate the fucking Flyers but I hope they beat the shit out of Wilson next time they play the Caps.

I don't encourage or particularly like most fighting in the NHL but I'd give a pass on this one.

Anybody who doesn't think Wilson's hit deserved at least five and a game is mentally deficient.

Seems like a hit like that should be governed by the same sort of defenseless player rules that are used in the NFL. Wilson is a fourth-line tough guy. That's his role. Doesn't make the hit right. And as Moddy said, they really didn't need that at the time to wake up the Flyers. He'll learn from it, hopefully. That wasn't good hockey.

The late Ed Kea would agree with your bolded response to Moddy.

Wilson will not be suspended for his hit. The league is a complete joke when it comes to disciplinary actions.
