It's just really tiresome when people throw out stuff like, "I'm not sold on this guy or that guy" because he didn't win the Stanley Cup singlehandedly. Same type of people who, at the same time, refuse to give a guy like Bruce Boudreau proper credit because he has yet to win a Cup at all, much less all by himself. Make up your minds.

I am pretty sure I am not that type of guy.

So CBC is doing their annual Hockey Day in Canada form my hometown, so of course the local junior hockey team decides to break out some Don Cherry inspired jerseys.

This kinda ties in with something else I have been thinking about.
Coaches who have been fired or otherwise sent away by Anaheim have gotten better job right after.
The Anaheim coaching job probably rates in the bottom third of the league.
Ducks fire Ron Wilson, he winds up in San Jose then Toronto.
Ducks don't offer Mike Babcock a fair contract, he leaves and winds up in Detroit.
Ducks fire Randy Carlyle, he winds up in Toronto.
Toronto, Detroit and San Jose are all better jobs than Anaheim, yet Boudreau coaches Anaheim to the best record in the league over the past 100 or so games.

Didn't they turn around like right after he got there? I think he is one hell of a coach. But you lose Ovi, you lose the Caps.

Yes, they did turn it around right after he got there. They floundered through the holidays and management was ready to start dumping players. Then they went on (off the top of my head) something like a 17-2-3 streak under Boudreau and were still alive for a playoff spot until the last week of the regular season.

Flames and Canucks open with a line brawl two seconds into the game. I like fighting in hockey, but this was pointless. Tortz was pissed. Hartley started a line of goons, forcing the Canucks to start their fourth line. Just brutal.

Tortz tried to attack the Calgary dressing room. My question is, say they let him in, what's he do in there?

He stays in there because he's not coming out.

Wild stuff. 142 PIM in the first two seconds.

Can't stand the guy, almost wish they would have let him enter the dressing room. Classless night for both teams.

Hartley sends his fourth line out to start. Serious question: if Torts sends out his 2nd or 3rd line, does this happen? Once he responded with his fourth, wasn't that the point that it was on?

And count me as one who doesn't understand why they didn't just let him in the room. Good luck in there, jackwagon.

Why would you put your other players at risk? Hartley had a winger playing centre, I don't think Tortorella had a choice but to protect his other players.

He is a colossal asshole and would have got his ass kicked if he'd gotten into the locker room, that part is not defensible but the beginning of the game is on Hartley IMO.
