Man, Minnesota without Parise and Koivu just looked horrible last night against Dallas. Backstrom's out, too. All are expected back after the Olympics, if not sooner in some cases.

If I'm the Wild, I'm more anxiously awaiting the return of Harding instead of Backstrom. But they have been hit hard my injuries.

Also, Predators swing a big deal with the Rangers, swapping defencemen Micheal delzotto and Kevin Klein. Delzotto is a RFA after the season while Klein has four years at $2.9 per left on his deal.

Double J: Just FYI, Peter Gammons is an enormous hockey fan.

I stand corrected, then. I still don't care that he thinks it's considered a "minor sport" because of fighting or the occasional donnybrook.

Dallas is blowing out the Leafs 6-1 in the third.

Switched over to the Isles/Pens game on TSN2 and it's the NBC (or something) feed.

Weird thing is, TSN's great PBP guy Gord Miller is calling the game. And on the downside, fucking Pierre McGuire is the colour guy.

And as everyone in Canada says, "STFU, Pierre"

Everyone (who follows hockey) in the U.S. says the exact same thing.

Funny how injuries seem to come in bunches. Minnesota's been hit hard; so has Detroit. Probably some others that I don't follow as closely. Never seems to be just one or two guys; more like five or six at the same time. Of course, the best teams find ways to weather the storm and get decent production from their backup people.

Gord Miller is the No.3 pbp guy for NBC Sports Network now. The analysts sort of rotate.

Correct. Talking about highs and lows. NBC employs Doc Emrick, a really good thing, and Pierre McGuire, which makes one want to throw something at the television ...

I guess McGuire is sort of like Dick Vitale, ESPN's long-time college basketball analyst. People either love him or hate him with not much middle ground. But I gotta admit both men are passionate about their sports and I've learned quite a bit from them through the years.
