I think it's an upgrade over Kuemper. I'd rather have Harding or Backstrom, but it's looking like neither of those are viable right now. I would have loved to get Brodeur or even Jaroslav Halak, but I don't want to mortgage the future for them. Regardless of who's in goal, Minnesota's a longshot to win more than one round in the playoffs this spring. The team is building well, however, and I don't want to sabotage that for a short-term gamble.

I would expect Kari Lehtonen would still get most of the minutes, so not sure what Dallas has in mind here. Ellis is younger and seemed to be a serviceable backup.

What did LA have to give up to get Gaborik? I still think they can be a darkhorse in the west. With Kopitar, Richards, Carter, Brown, Williams, etc., not to mention Drew Doughty on the back end, they should score more than they do.

Moulson and Cody McCormick from Buffalo to Minnesota for Torrey Mitchell and draft picks (unspecified). Um, OK.

Matt Frattin, a second and a third. Personally glad Toffoli was not moved.

The Washington Post is reporting Halak will need to change his cellular service to Verizon. ;)

The whole city? Gee, that's kind of steep.

I was surprised the Rangers dealt Callahan. I know they need scoring, maybe St. Louis can give it to them. I watched Tampa lose to the Blues last night. That team has first-round loss written all over it. Good enough to make the playoffs, not much else. Maybe Stamkos can change that; doubt it.

Jaroslav Halak to the Washington Capitals for Michael Neuvirth.

When he declined to whittle off $3 million or so more off the six-year deal, Callahan was goner.

    Oops. Offer, not deal.

Yeah, maybe that's why the Rangers paid such a high price. ::)
