This is my understanding also. I guess another way of putting it would be if a wildcard pulls an upset, it would stay in the bracket of the division champ it defeated.

    That's a good one, lol.

In all seriousness, though, Keenan's treatment of Linden, facilitated by Mark Messier, was absolutely sickening.

I do hate the format. Just seed the division winners 1-2 (or make an exception if necessary and give the lesser winner the 3 seed) and then seed by record. They're probably going to luck out this year, but it won't be long before we get a major inequity in seeding and matchups.

Correct. So, if, say, Dallas or Phoenix or Minnesota upsets Anaheim, they take the Ducks' spot and face LA/SJ in the next round. Like the way the NBA has done for years.

Thus, barring two series upsets, you get one team from each division in the conference finals.

    Sorry, I stand corrected.

The Leafs don't make the playoffs but at least they make things interesting. Word is MLSE just hired Brendan Shanahan as the President of the hockey team

Picking the Stars ninth in the conference is as safe as you can go. That's where they're doomed to spiel for the next 4 to 5 years.

I'm actually impressed with the job Lindy Rupp has done with Dallas. When I saw them in December, I figured they'd finish last in the division. They've actually been more than respectable in the last couple of months.

Dallas plays at Phoenix the last night of the regular season and the final playoff spot could come down to that game.

And the Blue Goose crowd will be ready to run him out of town if they can't get Bolland signed.

Dammit. Why is it, every time I say and think I'm done with this team, they find a way to keep me interested?

In truth, though, the best way he can help them is probably to come out of retirement.

Bolland will be this summers Clarkson.
