Word on the street has Ovechkin taking over as coach and GM.

Wonder if McPhee ends up in Calgary

Yeah, was sort of expecting that.

I don't think we'll see a huge number of coaching changes this offseason, though.

Flames hire Brad Treliving as their new GM. I quite litteraly know nothing about him outside of him being the assistant GM in Phoenix since 2007. Anyone got anything else?

Another GM spot filled as Hurricanes bring in legendary Whalercane Ron Francis to steer the proverbial ship.

No GMGM, but the Caps have reportedly shipped the rights to Jaro Halak to the New York Islanders for a fourth round pick.

That's a significant upgrade for the Islanders if they get him signed. St. Louis may now regret not sending Halak there in the first place in a package for Vanek.

Unless NYI ponies up some big bucks, I test free agency if I am Halak. He'll be the No. 2 option after Miller and there's enough teams with goaltending issues looking for help that some one will give him a Philly/Bryzgalov-esque deal.

What a wasted trade that was. He was doomed when he didn't want to start against St. Louis late in the season.

To no one's surprise, Canucks dismiss John Tortorella (and assistant Mike Sullivan). It seemed like a marriage doomed from the start. I think Torts need to sit out a season, go so place warm with a beach and mellow out a bit.

So that leaves head coaching vacancies in Washington, Florida, Nashville and Vancouver. I guess there's still a chance Toronto could make a change, but I'd be surprised at anyone else.
