This had been expected for weeks since JR (the GM, not our esteemed poster) had leaked that he was stepping down at the end of the season.

It basically brings a series of moves from two years ago full circle, when Ron Francis was kicked off the bench and sent upstairs. He was JR-in-training. Now he has the controls.

And he's got a lot going on, even if he doesn't run a bunch of transactions.

Torts is Toronto would be a bigger train wreck than Rob Ford.

Good to see Mike Vellucci move to the big kid table with the Whalercanes after years of putting together terrific, competitive teams with the OHL's Plymouth Whalers.

Tortorella is hockey's version of Bobby Valentine. And like Bobby Valentine, his future is in front of the camera, not behind the bench.

You're taking the Caps' word on that?

The owner of Boston pizza really is a billionaire?

They haven't got a dime out of me since taking the Desperado pizza off the menu. Always found the food to be underwhelming but a buddy of mine in the restaurant bidness says they have done OK positioning themselves as a place to go to watch hockey and UFC.

Torts in Toronto would be a daily comedy routine. If we thought New York was funny, that would be the ultimate.

Leafs continue to fuck up everything they do. The assistant coaches get the gate, Carlyle gets a two-year extension.

I couldn't believe that, either. I figured it was 50/50 on whether Carlyle would be back.

Dave Farrish is a good coach. He'll land on his feet.
