Manziel isn't coming back. He's been salivating over the chance to go pro since the day he earned the starting QB job at A&M.

No shit. But it'd sure be awesome if he did.

Florida will play Michigan at Jerry World to open the 2017 season, which will be the Gators' first non-conference regular-season game outside the state of Florida since they played at Syracuse in 1991.

ESPN will be doing all kinds of stuff for the BCS title game.

Yeah, yeah. The thing that caught my eye was the mock screenshot of what one of the channels would look like. On the crawl, there is another football score: 22 Syracuse 34, 1 Va. Tech 20 F/OT. Awesome.

A 14-point win in overtime is a hell of an accomplishment, no doubt.

    Probably the old 14-point dropkick!

It is possible, but highly unlikely.

I vaguely recall reading somewhere a while back that he planned to go back to UCLA. Was not surprised at all, so it didn't make a huge impact.

In the majority of cases, I think guys come out too early rather than wait too late. Unless a guy is dirt broke and desperately needs the money today, what's the upside? Do they really think they are going to get worse by staying another year? Or get injured? (I know a couple of players have taken out insurance policies against certain major injuries.)

But I agree with Michael. If you're going to come out early, I think it makes sense to have assurances you'll be one of the top 3-4 guys at your position.

I don't see a Division III thread, so this is the logical place to post this. University of Wisconsin - Whitewater routed Mount Union in the Amos Alonza Stagg Bowl tonight for the Division III championship. Whitewater quarterback Matt Behrendt finished the season with 40 TD passes and 1 INT. That's not a typo. 40 TDs, 1 INT.

Also, Mount Union has lost five times in the last eight seasons -- all of them to Whitewater in the Stagg Bowl. They've met in the Stagg Bowl eight of the last nine years.

Great for Whitewater. Why are they playing this on a Friday?
