    And so tragically unavoidable.

If only these guys could make decisions that these people who obviously are the wrong crowd - like the kind of people who go rolling around with a pound of weed in their car, and expired tags - are people they should stay away from, all would be good. But apparently there's no personal responsibility to be had.

It would be even better if they didn't have enablers like Mommy and Daddy and Dave Matter, who make excuses for them and absolve them of all responsibility for their actions. Maybe this kid didn't possess the pound of weed and was going to sell it. But I don't think there's any question that he made the wrong decision (again), was arrested on a drug-related offense (again), and shouldn't be able to play the part of the choir boy by saying "not mine" and walking away as Homer Matter leads his readers in chants of "M-I-Z, Z-O-U"

Wasn't Green-Beckham adopted by a white couple? (hence the hyphenated last name)

That's probably why the fans/writers/apologists "can't possibly believe" he'd be involved in something like this ...

To be fair, you can't expect the cops to know who's been adopted by a white couple and is outside the legal system's notice.

That would be an interesting legal case to argue. "I was with the wrong crowd." "No, you ARE the wrong crowd."

The rumor board says he busted into his ex-girlfriend's home and may or may not have gotten physical with her.

I blame the bad people hanging around this good kid.

That's what I heard, too. I heard some KC sports talk person mentioned this rumor over the weekend and was shouted down by a bunch of MU supporters. Then for the suspension to come today, with the police not commenting on whether there's an investigation going on, only adds fuel to those flames.

See ya in the CFL, I guess ...

Ha. He is 6-6, 230 pounds and goes up for the ball like LeBron. The only way the NFL cares is if he was beating up his boyfriend instead of his girlfriend.

    Good point.

Though he may have to wait. I'm not sure Pinkel will have any say in the decision about whether he sticks around after this latest (alleged) transgression. So he sits out a year before he's eligible for the NFL, or I guess goes to a I-AA and plays this season before going pro.

Nothing to see here. No charges to be filed.

Couple of interesting takeaways: Green-Beckham forced his way into an unlocked apartment as girlfriend's roommate tried to keep the door closed. Pushed so hard it bruised her wrist, then the doorknob smashed through the drywall as the door slammed open. He pushed the roommate down a flight of 4 stairs, and in texts the girlfriend says how he dragged her around by the neck that night.

But the kicker is a text from the girlfriend, trying to convince the roommate to not press charges: “We just need to move quickly on this before he’s arrested and before his warrant is made public. he will be kicked out of Mizzou and the not qualify for the draft next year. The coaches talked to me and explained to (me) how serious this is and there’s no time to waste at this point.”

The coaches approached the alleged victim of domestic violence to try and keep charges from being pressed against their star football player? In the wake of the whole swimmer rape/suicide deal there?

We're going to see real soon how serious the media there is.

You beat me to it, BWIP.

I don't think he plays for Mizzou again, and I think the coaches are going to face some serious hot water. Remember, last year ESPN OTL investigated the administration's slow response to a rape allegation, after which the woman eventually killed herself.
