I think another SEC school will win a title while Saban's at Alabama simply because doing so will give you a leg up on being selected for the playoffs if it's not a complete upset by somebody like Vanderbilt. If Auburn does it this year and then wins the SEC championship game, it'll have a weak but hope of making the BCS title game, and that sort of thing would cinch a playoff berth

Wow, that would be interesting... If Auburn beats Alabama in the Iron Bowl, people will start lobbying for a rematch. I would be curious if a Alabama team with one loss would rank higher than Baylor or Ohio State. I would certainly hope not.

The playoff starts next season right?

Unlike 2011, Alabama won't have any time to recover in the rankings if they lose next week so I doubt they'd be in the top two.

And I'm not getting the Auburn love. They just blew a 17-point fourth quarter lead at home against a 6-3 team and needed a complete fucking miracle to even win that game.

But the SEC Vortex of Dominance is in play I guess...

I think it's more just people's unending desire for BCS chaos. If you polled college football fans, most of them would say there is a good chance that Auburn beats Alabama AND Florida beats Florida State AND Oklahoma State or Texas beats Baylor AND Michigan or Michigan State beats Ohio State and then we roll the dice with nothing but indistinguishable one-loss teams and everyone gets to cry foul.

I usually root for BCS chaos.

I think if Auburn beats Alabama and wins the SEC title game.
    Florida beats Florida State
Ohio State loses to Michigan or Michigan State in the Big Ten title game
Baylor loses any of its remaining games (none are easy)

I think if that happens, you would have a Auburn-Alabama rematch in the title game with Oregon being the third team.

I doubt very much that would happen, but stranger things have happened.

Any one or maybe even two of those things could happen, but not all four.

I feel pretty comfortable in saying that, even if Jameis Winston is in jail, there's no fucking way Florida beats Florida State this year.

    Michigan's not beating OSU either.

After that, the rest of that list is possible.

I agree, but there have been some years where some fucking batshit crazy things had to happen to get certain national championship matchups.

I tend to think there will be three undefeated teams at the end of the season (after the conference title games). I think Bama, Florida State and Ohio State all run the table and Ohio State gets screwed over.

Prosecutor expects a Winston decision in a week. If FSU stays undefeated but he's charged (and thus automatically suspended), that's going to be a hell of a situation.

They face Idaho on Saturday, so they'll still be undefeated in a week.

Yeah. I'm talking about what if he is suspended, they still beat Florida and win the ACC championship, but now they're being evaluated against the other unbeatens and they don't have Winston.
