    Meaningless.
    Welcome to Pasadena, Coach Sumlin.

Burnt Mooseburger opened the TAMU-Mizzou broadcast with an emphatic, nearly-harrumphing pronouncement that the contract extension meant Sumlin was STAYING PUT.

    Bwahwhawahaaaahaa.

So Briles and Sumlin both sign contract extensions. Well, good for them; they've earned it.

Steve Alford's long-term extension at New Mexico lasted, what, a weekend?

Me thinks 1985 Phil Collins might be walking the plank at West Virginia soon.

    Phil Collins?

Well, I suppose Mike London could go to West Virginia, then.

Only if Holgo lasts another year. London will be in Charlottesville through then.

Another 2-10 season and London will be in the witness protection program.

    Interesting.

He's an average coach. 4th or 5th best in his own division. Got full cupboards at both spots, Houston and A&M.

James Franklin got a pile a shit at Vandy, went 9-4 and 8-4 in his last 2 years. That's the guy USC wants.

Difference between Alford & Sumlin is that the UCLA job wasn't open when Alford agreed to his extension - he also hadn't signed it when UCLA finally did call.

If Haden was interested in Sumlin he's already reached out. If he did, and Sumlin wanted the job, there'd be absolutely no reason for Sumlin to sign a new deal.

Yeah, USC can probably afford an increased buyout, but if you're Sumlin, why would you make it more expensive for your new employer to hire you?

Yeah. I don't get what all the fascination with Sumlin is, either. He's a decent coach. He's not the second coming of Bear Bryant.

If I'm USC, I'm keeping Orgeron.
