Quite possibly the most chickenshit thing I've seen in quite awhile was the AD, one Vivian Fuller, not showing up for the presser this afternoon. She sent a PR flack to handle the media and gave out a BS press release.

There might not be a HBCU in the country that has a more over-inflated sense of entitlement than Jackson State.

This is the photo Jackson State distributed when it hired a new basketball coach last spring:

(Wayne Brent isn't actually one of those fish that lives 2,000 feet below the surface of the ocean, he just looks like it in that photo).

Agreed. It's also curious that none of the stories I've seen, either from the Clarion-Ledger or the AP, have had any sort of comment from Comegy. Not a statement, not a note that "Comegy declined comment" or "Comegy was unavailable for comment," nothing. Wonder if he's laying low, trying to take the high road, simply unavailable, or if they're trying to sweep something bigger under the rug.
The last one wouldn't be unheard of. This is the program, after all, that basically told its players to STFU and made a murder investigation go away in less than a week.

He looks like a parasite is sucking on his brain.
Hell of a basketball coach, though. That was a really great hire for Jackson State.

Pretty ironic for a school that has become the 2010's edition of Suck State.

I recall a school where the chancellor reached around the AD to fire the football coach, then had the AD take the bullets at the presser that afternoon. Lost any respect for the chancellor right there, and fortunately the problem went away on its own soon enough. AD saw what was going on and got out of there, too.

I kinda halfway pay attention to UCA because I used to live in the area and it was beginning to look like it was about to become a big-time player in the college ranks in Arkansas. But it's been a cluster there the last few years. A president getting fired over financial stuff, to start with.

Steve Campbell, who coached Delta State to the D2 title in 2000 and Mississippi Gulf Coast CC to the 2007 NJCAA title, has taken the UCA job.

Good guy, good coach. One of the best developers of O-line talent I've seen.

Sounds like JMU will announce a coach by week's end. Down to DiFillipo, Stinespring, and Barlow.

    My money's on Barlow.

Edit: Apparently, Barlow is NOT a finalist. In his place now is Ohio State co-defensive coordinator.....can't remember his name. But him.

Sounds like a nice hire for URI, but if he does his intel...he won't come.

If Tim Stowers couldn't get it turned around with his FCS record, who could? Joe Trainer seemed to have it going in the right direction until URI officials decided to leave the Colonial for the Northeast, then changed their minds (while playing CAA with only 40 scholarships). They seemed to be bouncing back after last year's O-fer, but a second-half collapse finished Joe.

UPDATE: Fleming's the man. Good luck and Godspeed, Jim.

Everett Withers. Has been Co-DC / Safeties coach at OSU.

If true, it's interesting, from an Ohio State perspective. Well respected coach, served as the interim HC at North Carolina. Has done a nice job of recruiting for tOSU, which is job 1 under Meyer.

Unfortunately, the Buckeye defense has been a dumpster fire for both of Meyer's seasons. While most fanbois have been calling for Fickell's (the other Co-DC) head, looks like Withers is going to take the fall. Was making in the neighborhood of 550K at tOSU, last coach at JMU pulled in around 250K. While I can see that be increased, doubt it'll be doubled. Guessing it was suggested that he start looking for a new gig.
