Whatever. The Vikings were talking to O'Brien before it was cool.

I get why teams are interested in O'Brien, but I wonder how much of a deterrent that $6.5 million buyout is. I'm guessing if he leaves they negotiate some kind of settlement. I don't see that whole amount being paid and Penn State won't pull a West Virginia and stalk him until it's paid off (which I must admit I kind of enjoyed...).

Houston is in position to move first on O'Brien since the token, I mean Lovie, interview is already out of the way.

What has Bill O'Brien done to justify the demand and a team paying the buyout?

Well, aside from losing to Ohio and UVA last year and being completely jail sexed by Indiana this year not much.

Hey, they lost to Minnesota by more than Nebraska did. Don't forget that.

Speaking of UVA, rumors swirling of mass transfers, perhaps as many as a dozen. Things are going to get a lot worse in Charlottesville before they get better.

  7. I know three things about this guy:

    1. It's spelled "Charley"
    2. His UMass squad is the only team in the country that can say it scored less than 13 ppg in the last two years.
    3. He lost to this guy:

Amazing how quiet the Texas search has gotten. The search committee must not include Chip Brown's source. :D

I just saw an ESPN crawl that said they want to be done by Jan. 15 and the candidates are Jimbo Fisher, Art Briles, James Franklin and Charlie Strong.

If they hire Franklin, the Longhorn Network is going to be fucked. Great coach, but quite possibly the dullest coach I've ever dealt with. I'm surprised Gundy isn't on there. I'm glad Harbaugh isn't. :D

I think Briles is going to wind up with the Redskins. Snyder is going to offer him crazy money and he won't be able to pass it up.
If I'm Fisher, I say, "Give me the same offer you were going to give Saban, otherwise fuck off..." Texas might actually do it, especially if Fisher just won a national title.
Franklin is a bad fit here for the same reason he was a bad fit for USC. This is a lot bigger than just a football job and he's not up for that.
Strong would be a great hire.

If Snyder offers Briles $75 million and he takes it, he's a lying whore. Think of the recruits! Think of the children!
