I haven't followed the whole Board of Trustees thing very closely. I can't remember which gang has the edge now, the pro-JoePa or anti-JoePa folk.

The more I think about it, the more this makes sense.

Yep. Because the NCAA actually uses the reasoning that athletes aren't influenced by who the coach of their team is.

Which is ridiculous. Does the NCAA think that Denard Robinson would have
gone to Michigan if Brady Hoke was recruiting him.

Patterson wants to meet with Briles, and Art supposedly said he would take it if offered.

Three years ago, most people couldn't have told you who Art Briles was. I like the guy. He seems down to earth, genuine, etc. But let's not get carried away.

FWIW, he became a nearly legendary figure in Texas HS football for turning Stephenville from a graveyard to a dynasty.

I'm sure that still resonates among the HS coaches in the state.

If Briles leaves, Chad Morris will be phone call 1A.

Texas also pursuing Jim Mora, per Brett McMurphy & Adam Schefter on Twitter.

    EDIT: Chip Brown, too:

Oh, I'm sure. Makes you wonder why more successful high school coaches never get a shot at the collegiate level.

Well then there is no fucking way Texas is hiring Jim Mora ... in the next three days.
