Saw on the Twitter-verse Munchak COULD stay, but would have to gut the coaching staff and tell the pink slippers himself (and not the GM). Munchak refused, thus he was gone.

Don't know how much truth there is to that, but it could explain the possible extension/raise, no?

It's a real good question. I just texted the writer to get that clarified.

If either want Morris, they'll have to back up the money truck. Already making seven figures as OC at Clemson.

Dabo Sweeney is an interesting case. Does he stay at Clemson and try to keep building them into a national title contender? Or does he feel like he's maxed out there and look for another spot with potentially greater upside?

And what of Gary Patterson? He was a real popular name a couple of years ago. Sure, TCU has had a couple of down years in the new Big XII, but if the guy was a good coach in 2011, got to think he's still a good coach now.

Dabo's not going anywhere until Saban leaves Alabama. A lot of people figured Kirby Smart is the anointed replacement for Saban, but the way Alabama's defense fell apart this year I'm not so sure anymore. Dabo's an Alabama graduate, he's young and he's a great recruiter. I think he'll be the next guy.

Patterson missed his window. When he was dominating the Mountain West, people wondered what his team would do in a major conference. Then they got in the Big 12 and sank to the middle of the pack.

Considering Louisville was paying Strong close to $4 million per year, I don't think salary will be an issue.

Per AP: Charlie Strong is the first black head coach of a men's program at Texas.

Any word if Gabby Johnson raced there from Rock Ridge to welcome him?

I still think Patterson may be quite a good coach. Not sure if anyone expected TCU to jump into the Big 12 and dominate --- they probably don't have the resources to do that. Like a lot of coaches at smaller schools, give them more resources and who knows what they might accomplish.
