I know this comes up every year, but...... are the long-term contracts really a good idea if you're going to take this "what have you done lately?" approach. I shutter to think how much money has been flushed down the toilet in buyouts and such that never needed to happen.

Does Dooley's continued state of employment matter? Or is it such a foregone conclusion for him that nobody cares?

Barring a win at South Carolina on Saturday, he's as gone as the wild goose in winter.

Several witnesses claim Dooley and Hart got in a shouting match after Dooley's Monday presser, during which he said Hunter is not a first round draft pick.

This is the third consecutive UT coach that Gruden is said to be replacing. Hell, if someone's bored they can find the TigerVols posts from the previous searches. :D

Meanwhile, what is Dooley supposed to do with a half-dozen pairs of orange pants?

My favorite part of the video of the Auburn fan heckling Jay Jacobs when the Chizik hire was imminent -- "WE WANT A LEADER NOT A LOSER!!!" -- was the first name the guy screamed was, "Give us Gill!!"

The same Gill that went 5-19 at Kansas (just like Gene at ISU!) and at one point lost 14 straight games since he lost his last 10 at KU and his first four at Liberty.

Why people think Turner Gill is the next coaching messiah is a mystery to me.

And why you aren't a fan is an enormous mystery to the rest of us.

Eh, I just haven't seen anything that would convince me he's better than any other former coach of a MAC school. He went 20-30 at Buffalo, IIRC. Then struggled in two years at Kansas. I'd have to look it up to be sure, but I think he's had one winning season as a head coach.

People knock Gene Chizik's record at both Iowa State and Auburn, but wanna claim Gill is better?

So, go ahead, make your case why Gill would have been a better coach than Chizik. I'm listening.

IIRC, you'd have to replace Randy Shannon's name from half of them. ;)

Do you realize how bad Buffalo was before he got there? That they even reached any bowl game was a minor miracle.
