Agreed. I doubt it would be a money issue at that school. If he averages between 8-10 wins a year at Okie State, he could stay there the rest of his career. I don't know if you can say that about the majority of the schools in the SEC.

    Seems that "I'm a man. I'm 40" can't compete with "I'm a man. I've got $40 Billion."*

    * Two Billion, but it didn't fit the joke.

SEC schools in which you should be able to say that:

Ole Miss, Miss State, Kentucky, South Carolina, Missouri, Texas A&M, Vandy, Auburn, Arkansas

You definitely cannot say that about Auburn or Arkansas and probably not about A&M. The others? You're probably right.

Or he's one of two or three SEC teams with a shot at the national title. Like this season.

Pat Dye won 8.25 games per year and runs the fucking school. I think you can say that about Auburn.

Frank Broyles won a measly 7 games per year and they names the stadium after him.

Average 8 wins and win the SEC every 3-4 years and you're Golden.

Hell, even UGA fits the list.

Gene Chizik won eight games three times, including a national championship, at Auburn.

Houston Nutt averaged 7.5 wins per year at Arkansas, including 10 and 8 his two last years.

RC Slocum averaged 8.7 wins per year at Texas A&M and is in the College Football Hall of Fame.

All were fired or asked to resign.

Pat Dye did a lot more than win 8.25 games per year, y-g. He put Auburn on even footing with Alabama (at a time when the gap between the two was as wide as it is now — if not wider, he moved the Iron Bowl out of Birmingham and won 4 SEC titles. He's the best coach they ever had.

The only schools who expect to win national titles every year are Alabama, Florida and LSU.

The rest of them would be happy with 8-10 wins on average as long as they won the SEC every now and then (or at least the division). Gene Chizik would still be at Auburn if Nick Saban wasn't about to win his 3rd national title in 4 years at Alabama. And you know that.

    And Texas.

    And Notre Dame.

    And Ohio State.

It isn't necessarily how many games you win, but WHICH games you win.

Chizik got blown out by Georgia and Alabama two straight years.

Richt was in hot water at Georgia because he couldn't beat Florida often enough.

Mike Shula got fired at Alabama because he never beat Tennessee, LSU or Auburn.

Because we weren't talking about SEC schools only in the last 6 posts. But, carry on.

You really fail to grasp how this thing works. For one, these teams are playing two or three more games a year in most cases.
