It's big. If Bielma stayed and kept winning, Alvarez's legacy was cemented: He returned the program to glory, then kept the machine going. Now, he needs 1 more good hire for that to be his legacy.

It would be interesting to see if any of those kids had offers from UF or FSU. I would bet they did not.

Part of the problem is the staff got raided badly when Chryst left last year. (That's likely a large reason for Wisconsin's early-season struggles).

Agreed. It will be someone who has coached there before.

Of course, maybe if Malzahn stays, maybe Auburn doesn't have a steep drop off. We'll never know.

Supposedly Sonny Dykes to Cal is close.

Oh, come on, O'Brien has had ONE year as a head coach. Good year under tough conditions, but it's still ONE year. He's not Knute Rockne, yet.

    No idea.

But now he's not recruiting to a Big 10 school that will never play in a kid's backyard. He's recruiting to an SEC school that will.

And like I said before, recruiting is more about the staff than the head coach. Bring Partridge and hire some guys who know the SEC and - more importantly - Texas and they're fine.

Mike MacIntyre would be a better fit there but I doubt the Cal brass could sell a San Jose State guy to the alums.

Looks like Steve Addazio is the guy at BC.

He certainly was their equal. Rebuilt an absolutely dead program into a consistent national player, won three Rose Bowls, was 8-3 in all bowls, had a Heisman winner, actually played some intersectional games, and left the Badgers in great shape for his successor.

Of all of the guys at smaller schools, I think MacIntyre is the best of the bunch. I figured he would be heavily in the mix for Cal or Colorado.
