A friend calls Arkansas "the Southerner's Midwest."

Which one are you approaching it from? I'm just looking at it as a transplant in the state without a true allegiance to either team.

My team wins. And the more thinking I do on the matter, the more I think that will continue with Mr. High School over at the No. 2 school.

What's not to love about Alabama fans, folks?

Couple o' nuggets for Arkansas fans to ponder. Bielema was 1-5 vs. Ohio State, 16-18 VS. B1G teams not named Minnesota, Purdue, Illinois or Indiana.

    Enjoy!

I get Bielema not telling Alvarez he was interviewing. He probably thought, like most of us, that there was no way in hell he was going to get that job.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Alvarez coaches in the Rose Bowl and maybe for a year or two after that if he can't get the coach he wants. I tend to doubt there's any assistant on Wisconsin's staff who is ready to be promoted, especially since they lost so many assistants after last season.

I think the obvious candidates are: Chryst and Bevell. I read on CBS Sports that Doeren hasn't signed his contract, but has signed something legal that would require the Badgers to pay around $1 million to buy him out. If that's who they want, they should pay it.

Butch Jones doesn't make sense here. Alvarez isn't going to hire someone who has no links to Wisconsin. The only exception I would see to that would be if he hired someone from Notre Dame (Diaco) where, obviously Alvarez has a history.

This might have been mentioned further back on this thread, but was Bielema's buyout really only $1 million? For a guy that had been to two straight Rose Bowls?

Mario Cristobal fired today at FIU. He was supposed to be a rising star.

I think Alvarez will coach in the Rose Bowl too but I don't see him stepping in for a year or two. If Chryst and Bevell are out I can see him hiring Diaco and letting him coach in the championship game.

That seems like an Alvarez kind of move.

And much like his football team I'm starting to think Sonny Dykes will be left out when all the open jobs are filled.

Also, if Mike Gundy winds up at Tennessee don't be surprised if Larry Fedora replaces him in Stillwater.

I thought Dykes to Cal was all but done... Some of this shit is just crazy to try to follow...

It would be even more amazing if Charlie Strong doesn't get a new job. Other than interviewing at Auburn, we haven't heard much about Kirby Smart lately either.

The second wave of chain reaction is the most fun to watch... If a NFL team hires away a college guy... To watch a major school scramble to make a big hire right in the middle of recruiting season. We could have that with Oregon and Penn State...

Read today that Mike MacIntyre is back in the mix at Cal so that could mean Dykes isn't as done a deal as was previously thought.

Strong may figure Louisville is a better situation than any of the jobs he's looked at so far. It'll be a hell of a lot easier to win the ACC at UL than win the SEC at Tennessee.
