IIRC, they barely had one defensive stop that entire game.

As much as it's fun to rip UCLA for losing that Miami game, remember that it was pushed back to the end of the season because a hurricane wiped it out in September. Playing in December at the old Orange Bowl wasn't a picnic.

Why would it matter? If anything, it would have been tougher to play in the September heat.

That game was the first time I ever heard the name Edgerrin James.

Miami just started to emerge and laid the foundation for their national championship run with that game. Complete turning point game for the Hurricanes that season.

Jones came out and said directly the report is "absolutely false."

Ralphie spokesman said there's no truth to it.

Post still has a screaming headline saying "Jones to CU, source says; he says wait"

    Someone's fibbing.

That said, this has turned into yet another abortion for Bohn. Even if he gets Jones, his handling of all of his has been a joke.

Amazed that Cal would hire a coach with a first name of Sonny.

In addition to playing Oregon & Wazzu Cal also plays Arizona next year.

    Good times.

    Miami's defense couldn't stop UCLA's offense either.
Two horrible calls totally screwed the Bruins near the end of the game. Both were long pass completions followed by "fumbles."
The first, about a 30-yard gain, was just a bad bad call; receiver tackled, ball comes loose. The second, about a 40-yard gain, made me think the refs were determined to have Miami win. Receiver caught the ball, was knocked down, got up, set the ball on the ground, a Miami player grabbed it. Two refs looked at each other, shrugged their shoulders and called it a fumble recovery. The Bruins could have killed the clock after that play and Miami would never have gotten the ball back.

Just saw the ESPN ticker reporting that Strong was offered but turned down the Tennessee job.

Times certainly have changed when college football coaches prefer Louisville over Knoxville. This is starting to look like a potential mega embarrassment in Vol land. It started with "Oh yeah, we've got Gruden", and now it's down to ....I'm not sure, who's next on the Vols list?

The money helps, moving to the ACC also helps I think.

Speaking of the Vols search Petros Papadakis and Matt Smith brought up this ditty on their show today.
