State Journal reporting that Alvarez is interested in Peterson (interview could happen by Monday), Al Golden & Pitt OC Joe Rudolph (one of the Wisco Asst's to follow Chryst to Pitt).

Peterson & Golden would both certainly come under the "awfully good get" heading, IMO.

    It's Petersen.

And Paul Rhoads' name is being tossed out on the Twitterverse.

Yeah, that's a good way to serve the readers - sit back and do nothing until an announcement is made about the new coach.

Congrats, you found a new way for newspapers (and news-gathering organizations of all kinds) to become more irrelevant.

I thought I read something saying Peterson wouldn't interview at any of the open jobs. Things could change, I guess, but I thought I read that somewhere. Not sure if it was a source close to Peterson who said it or Peterson himself.

Iowa State fans may have their heads all explode at once if this happens. Isn't that what they cling to during their annual 6-6 season (and beating Iowa), that their coach is "one of them" and wants to be a lifer in Ames?

He grew up about 20 minutes from Ames so I can see why they'd think that.

I really hope this quote is real.

Petersen scares me. I realize it's irrational, but I would be scared that he would come in and do what Dan Hawkins did to Colorado.

I think Jones will accept later today.

I think this is what happened... Trace Armstrong represents Jones. Armstrong's firm also represents several of the people who work at ESPN.

I'm guessing Armstrong or someone at the firm leaked it to Paige before Jones told the people he needed to tell.

It's been handled very poorly, which is Jones' fault.
