Like Bielema talking about an uncle and aunt who live in Little Rock and used to bring him Razorbacks shirts and hats when he was a kid?

Agree with all of that. I think Mora was a great hire.

I'd love it if UCLA became an elite program again.

I think that's totally rational. Since Boise State's "arrival," you have Dirk Koetter, who went on to be spectacularly mediocre at Arizona State, Dan Hawkins, who (with help) made Colorado the laughingstock of D-I football, and now Petersen.

I realize Petersen has done a great job there, but what evidence is there that he's better-suited for a "big boy" job where you have to face quality teams every single week and not one or two per season, than the two previous Boise State coaches who made that move?

Footballscoop.com says Butch Jones has turned down the Colorado offer.

So I guess he's now the leading candidate to be the next head coach to turn down Tennessee.

You be wrong. Jones has pulled out of consideration.

    Abject abortion in Boulder.

Butch Jones has to feel like the prettiest girl at the ball. He's turned down Kentucky, Colorado and Purdue. And now may get bigger fish like Tennessee and Wisconsin coming courtin.

And Dave Doeren accepted that NC State offer way too soon. Imagine he'd have waited if he knew Wiscy would become available and UT would descend into the desperation zone.

Yeah, I mean, at Alabama, you face LSU or Texas A&M one week, Western Carolina or Western Kentucky the next. Wooooh!

For the vast majority of teams, you're facing 4-5 really scary matchups a year at most. Let's not exaggerate.

Doeren's better off at NC State than Tennessee at this point. But, yeah, Wisky would have been an interesting choice for him.

Boulder must still reek of Hawkins and Embree. Jones would have been a nice hire, but Colorado is screwed. Fortunately for the Buffs, things can't get any worse.

I'd go after Tedford. I'm guessing the Fresno coach will be the next to get a call.

It's interesting. I'm not surprised that nobody seems to want the Colorado job. It's the Tennessee job that is just fascinating. But, as has been pointed out, sometimes the biggest train wrecks of coaching searches have pretty happy endings.

I see something like that and I'm so glad that I'm not in the business anymore.

Say what you want about Woody Paige, I'd bet just about anything that he got the story from Jones' agent.

The Cincy Enquirer also reported that he was gone.
