CNN/SI's filter program led the site to report that Cal had hired Sonny *****

I realize Bobby Diaco is busy these days, but he has to be in the mix somewhere, doesnt he? I would be far more excited about him than some of the names being bandied about. And probably for far less money.

Very few schools are going to want to wait til Jan. 8 for their new coach to start.

The one school I could see waiting for him is Wisconsin.

You can hire him and still let him coach in the BCS game...

Bobby Diaco -- last job was Notre Dame defensive coordinator, he is from the East Coast and initially came to the Midwest to play linebacker at a traditional power?

Barry Alvarez can hire himself without hiring himself.

Has Larry Fedora turned down the Vols? That might be the coaching search equivalent of waking up in the gutter in a pool of your own vomit.

I remember Majors as being more average than anything at Tennessee, though he did have six good seasons of nine-plus victories in his 16 years at UT. Fulmer had 11 nine-plus seasons in 17 years.

Tommy Tuberville's name is starting to emerge as a candidate at Tennessee.

That would save me a lot of trouble from having to learn to hate someone new.

That's hilarious. Of course, I suspect you made it up yourself. Either way, good work.

What makes them all the more irrelevant is acting like they know something when they do not. All this "John Doe is taking the State U job" shit. We're seeing now how much of it never comes to pass. We're seeing people be wrong FAR, FAR more often than they are right.

Guess here is that a certain percentage are running with the latest rumor and a certain percentage are making stuff up in the wild hope they might get lucky and be right for once.

Bottom line, if you have nothing to report, don't report it. Sometimes I wonder if some of these people just need to fill x number of inches, so they speculate just like you and I do.
